Bilbo's Book (Here and Back Again):
- Appears in The Fellowship of the Ring and The Return of the King
In The Fellowship of the Ring:
As Bilbo prepared for his birthday party, he is working on writing down his adventure to the the Lonely Mountain, which he has called A Hobbit's Tale. He also described Hobbits in his book. When he left The Shire, Bilbo took the book with him and finished writing it at Rivendell.
In The Return of the King:
After he successfully destroyed the One Ring in Mordor, Frodo added his tale, The Lord of the Rings to Bilbo's book. Just before they left for the Grey Havens, Frodo gave the book to Sam. He left the last few page blank, so Sam could finish the tale.
