Gondorians are Men who descended from the ancient kingdom of Númenor. Gondor had once ruled much of Middle Earth, but its power has faded. It's once glorious cities have slowly fallen into disrepair and the White Tree has died, though its stump remains. Since the death of the last King, Isildur, Gondor has been ruled by Stewards.

At the end of the third age, Gondor's decline has been accelerated by the rise of Sauron in Mordor. Minas Ithil fell under Sauron's power and is now known as Minas Morgul. Osgiliath has come under greater agression. It had recently fallen, but Boromir was able to retake it.

As Sauron launched his final offensive, an army under the Witchking's command marched out of Minas Morgul and quickly overran Osgiliath. It then began a siege against Minas Tirith. As the lower levels of the city were overrun, the Rohirrim arrived. However, Sauron's second wave arrived with the Haradrim. The city was saved when Aragorn arrived with the Army of the Dead. Following Sauron's defeat, Aragorn was coronated as King of Gondor.
