Gollum leads Frodo and Sam back into Ithilien and on past Minas Morgul to the High Pass of Cirith Ungol. Gollum manages to turn Frodo against Sam and Frodo asks Sam to go away. After Sam realizes what happened, he goes into Shelob's Lair and retrieves Sting. He wounds Shelob before she can carry Frodo into her lair, but he leaves Frodo for dead. The Orcs carry Frodo to the Tower of Cirith Ungol. Sam goes in and saves him. When they reach Mt. Doom, Sam carries Frodo before Gollum turns up and attacks them. Sam attends Aragorn's coronation in the courtyard of The Citadel before the White Tree. He returns to The Shire and when at the Green Dragon, he approaches Rosie Cotton and soon marries her. He and the other three Hobbits go with Gandalf and Bilbo to the Grey Havens where Frodo and the other Ringbearers leave Middle Earth.
