Pippin In The Return of the King:
Merry and Pippin are serving as Treebeard's doorwardens and they greet Gandalf, Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and King Théoden who have to Isengard to check on Saruman. When they go to Orthanc, Pippin finds a glass globe, which Gandalf recognizes as a Palantir and quickly takes from Pippin. The two Hobbits go to Edoras and participate in the celebration over the victory at Helm's Deep. That night, Merry sees that Pippin is up to something, but can't stop him from taking the Palantir from Gandalf. Pippin looks into the Palantir and is held by Sauron's Eye. The next day, Gandalf leaves with Pippin. Merry gives him the last of his leaf before Pippin departs for Gondor.

Gandalf and Pippin ride to Minas Tirith and up to The Citadel to speak to Denethor, Steward of Gondor. Gandalf has instructed Pippin to be silent, but he speaks up anyway and tells Denethor that his son, Boromir, died trying to protect him. Pippin then offers his services to repay his debt to Boromir.Denethor accepts and has Pippin entertain him while he eats. Gandalf realizes that Denethor will not call for aid so he has Pippin sneak up and light a Beacon of Gondor to summon the Rohirrim.

Pippin then rides out with Gandalf to meet the retreating forces from Osgiliath. Once back within the safety of the walls of Minas Tirith, Faramir recognizes Pippin as a Hobbit and tells Gandalf of his encounter with Frodo and Sam. After Faramir returns badly wounded, Pippin sees that he is still alive but Denethor orders that Faramir be taken to the Tombs of the Stewards. Pippin then gets Gandalf and the two of them save Faramir from a funeral pyre. Pippin and Merry are at the last battle at the Black Gate of Mordor. They then attend Aragorn's coronation before returning home to The Shire. They make the journey to the Grey Havens when they bid farewell Frodo and the other Ringbearers.
