Gollum leads Frodo and Sam back into Ithilien and then past Minas Morgul to the High Pass of Cirith Ungol. While on the Winding Stair, he turns Frodo against Sam. Frodo then sends Frodo away. He leads Frodo into Shelob's Lair hoping that he would regain the One Ring. He then turns up again at Mt. Doom where he again tries to reclaim the Ring from Frodo.
