Nen Hithoel:

The River Anduin flows into Nen Hithoel after passing the Argonath. The sharp peak of Tol Brandir is located on the southern end. The ancient watchtower Amon Hen and Parth Galen are located on the western shore. Emyn Muil is on the eastern shore.

The Fellowship reach Nen Hithoel after have left Lothlorien and travelled down the River Anduin. They stopped at Parth Galen in order to finally decide whether to continue down the western shore and down to Gondor as Boromir wanted or make for Mordor as Aragorn advocated by reaching the eastern shore and Emyn Muil. After Boromir tries to take the Ring from Frodo, Frodo decides to leave the Fellowship. Sam realizes wht Frodo is going to do and ends up joining Frodo. The two of them row across to the eastern shore and Emyn Muil.
