Warg

Appears in:
The Two Towers

In The Two Towers:
Gríma Wormtongue tells Saruman that King Théoden will empty Edoras and flee to Helm's Deep with women and children. Saruman then decides to send his Wargs out to attack them en route. Wargs are larger, more fierce and more intelligent than their cousins, wolves. Near the White Mountains, the Wargs are intercepted by the few men who ride ahead and repel the attack. It comes at a cost though. Háma, father of Haleth, and the King's Doorwarden, is among those killed. Aragorn's horse, Hasufel, is killed and Aragorn himself is missing. Sharku, a Warg-Rider, tells Gimli and Legolas that Aragorn is dead and Legolas finds the Evenstar in Sharku's grasp.
