Season 4 Episode Summaries:

Episode Name: Six of One
Episode Number: 402
Written by: Michael Angeli

Original Air Date: 4/11/08 on SciFi Channel

Analysis:
  • The episode title "Six of One" is half of the quotation "Six of one, a half dozen of another." The title could refer to the emergence of Natalie, a Six, as a leader of one Cylon faction. It also probably refers to how the Cylons, the humans and the Final Four are not so different from each other in their flaws or their goals.
  • The number of survivors has dropped by another twenty-two. It can be assumed that they died as a result of injuries sustained during the Cylon attack.
  • Lee has left the Galactica for a position in the Quorum, which was secured for him by Vice President Zarek.
  • During his departure, his exchange with Dee clearly indicated that she was done with him.
  • Baltar is visited by an Inner Baltar, who points out both Tory's physical attributes and possibly deeper attributes.
  • Both the comments of his Inner Baltar and his own statements about hearing the music of god seem to hint that Baltar could be the fifth Cylon although it is likely misdirection by the writers.
  • Just as Inner Six seems to be something more than just Baltar's subconscious, Inner Baltar seems to know something of Tory's true nature.
  • Adama's raw emotion in his confrontation with Kara over her entering Adama's quarters and confronting Roslin is likely a product of his feelings toward Roslin. This overrides the father-daughter relationship he has with Kara.
  • Roslin and Adama have a discussion that again shows how deep their relationship really is even if they won't fully admit it to each other. It is also brutally insightful in that Adama's afraid to lose anyone else and live alone, while Roslin is afraid to die alone and unimportant.
  • The Cylon Raiders quit attacking the fleet because they sensed the Final Five at least according to one faction.
  • We finally have learned the model numbers for the seven human Cylons:
    • Ones: Cavil
    • Twos: Leoben
    • Threes: D'Anna
    • Fours: Simon
    • Fives: Doral
    • Sixes: Natalie, Gina
    • Eights: Sharon
  • It is likely significant that one of the Final Five is a Seven since that number has significance in Earth culture.
  • There is strident disagreement in the Cylon fleet over the actions of the Cylon Raiders. The Twos, Sixes and Eights believe that they have become sentient and recognized the Final Five are in the human fleet and this is something to be pursued. The Ones, Fours and Fives feel that the Raiders are basically broken and need to be fixed and that they have no business finding out who the Final Five are.
  • Boomer has set a precedent by voting against her model when she supports the Ones, Fours and Fives.
  • Natalie takes the extreme action of removing the telencephalic inhibitors from the Centurions.
  • In spite of her apparent disgust at Tigh's suggestion that she seduce Baltar to find out what he knows from his conversation with D'Anna at the Temple of Five, Tory quickly jumps in bed with him and even seems genuinely enamored of him.
  • An avowed atheist, Adama seems willing to believe in miracles.
  • Roslin's hair has begun to fall out because of her cancer treatment.
  • Adama has decided to give Kara the sewage processing ship, the Demetrius stocked with a crew picked by her friend Helo. He's given it to her so she can find her way to Earth.
  • By the end of the episode, it appears that only Lee and Adama are willing to believe that Kara might be telling the truth. Her closest friend Helo also likely supports her since he's the one that put together the crew of the Demetrius .
