Premise: The Monkees was a show to promote a made-up band. It was goofy, silly and a live-action cartoon that suppsedly followed the various adventures of the band when it wasn't recording or touring.
Characters:
- Davy was the British Beatles knock-off front man.
- Micky was the goofy drummer.
- Peter was the dim-bulb of the group.
- Mike was the serious guitar player.
Comments:
Looking to cash in on Beatlesmania, music producers cast two actors and two musicians as The Monkees. The TV series promoted their records (a 'music video' in each episode) and tour. The Monkees were popular for a short time.
