Cleopatra is more well-known for what happened behind-the-scenes than what's on film: the romance between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and their demands, the battles over creative control by the filmmakers and the swelling budget that bankrupted a film studio. Even so, the most expensive film ever made is a decent epic. It weighs in at over three hours, has great production values that made it to the screen and a great cast including Rex Harrison (Julius Caesar) and Roddy McDowell (Caesar Augustus). The result may not be the best movie of all-time, but still a Hollywood classic.
