As you can take note, I said and did nothing to censor your original comments. I've also let other posts (such as The Vietamese Patriot) along the same lines stand. I admit there are inaccuracies in the film and this isn't a worship site. I am happy some film came out to stir interest in that bit of history and hope this site helps separate the fact from fiction. Almost every Hollywood action movie has scenes done just for shock value and a two-dimensional, often foreign-accented, over-the-top villain, so I don't find the personal betrayal that some seem to feel about the movie, but I'm not British.
Your intelligent answer about Australia, about whose history I admit I am
not very knowledgeable, indicates that we can pursue a discussion without
petty insults, so I'd like to give it a try. Now, since you've again reminded
us of slavery and American Indians (which Hollywood has done on several occasions...
Glory and Dances with Wolves to start with), I pose the question that I've
asked before: what about India and South Africa? I hardly think that they
hold the British Empire in high esteem. I think both of our countries have
skeletons in the closets
