William Gibson

William Gibson

Neuromancer started the cyberpunk subgenre of science fiction. After reading Alfred Bester's The Stars, My Destination, I could see where William Gibson could have gotten his idea for an anithero, but Neuromancer is a much more technologically intensive story and extensively uses computers. Much of the terminology that Gibson developed for this book, has since been adopted into reality during the explosion of computers, the Internet, virtual reality and other related technology. This story has been copied so much that you've probably read or seen similiar stories, but this is the original cyberpunk novel. It's worth reading what started the cyberpunk subgenre.
