June 24 - Alexander McDougall becomes commander of the Hudson Highlands Department.
June 25 - John Stark becomes commander of the Northern Department.
October 15 - William Alexander (Stirling) becomes commander of the Northern Department.
September 24 - William Irvine becomes commander of the Western Department.
November 21 - John Stark becomes commander of the Northern Department.

January 18 - William Heath becomes commander of the Hudson Highlands Department.
