Elizabeth Putnam married Benjamin Martin around 1757-8. He credited her with helping him put aside his anger and rage. She made him more "responsible." After bearing seven children, she died of illness in 1773, when her youngest child, Susan was still a baby. In 1781, Eliabeth's sister, Charlotte Selton married her widowed husband, Benjamin.
